• Darriana Burton, a former Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office employee, was arrested June 9 and charged with conspiracy to commit simple escape for allegedly aiding the May 16 breakout.
• Authorities allege Burton relayed escape plans to Derrick Groves through monitored jail-issued video calls and coordinated unmonitored communications.
• Ten inmates exploited infrastructure flaws to escape by yanking open a faulty cell door, removing a toilet unit, crawling through a hole and scaling a barbed-wire fence.
• Convicted murderer Derrick Groves and domestic abuse suspect Antoine Massey remain at large while eight other escapees have been recaptured.
• Investigators have arrested at least 16 accomplices, including a jail maintenance worker accused of cutting water to facilitate the escape, and offer $50,000 rewards for information leading to each fugitive’s capture.
