Eberhart used his position in the House Committee on Public Policy to advocate for the relocation of two casinos owned by Spectacle Entertainment and to obtain tax incentives for the company.
In exchange for his support, Eberhart accepted the promise of future employment at Spectacle, with an annual compensation of at least $350,000.
Evidence against Eberhart included text messages, digital images of documents, covert recordings of conversations, and records of statements and actions in the Indiana legislature.
Spectacle Entertainment has been the subject of several federal investigations in recent years, with other officials also facing charges and sentences.
