Ex-Federal Prison Guard Receives 8-Year Sentence in Sexual Abuse Scandal

Former federal prison guard Andrew Jones, 36, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing multiple female inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution at Dublin, California.
Jones is one of eight correctional officers from the facility who have been charged in connection to a 'culture of sexual abuse of female inmates' at the prison. Four of those have been sentenced so far, including Jones.
The abuse occurred between July 2020 and June 2021, when Jones was supervising inmates at the prison's food services department.
Jones pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual abuse of a ward, and one count of false statements to investigators.
The U.S. Department of Justice has vowed to 'not rest until we have eliminated such misconduct from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.'
