Ex-Detroit Officer Arraigned on 14 Felonies in Roseville Standoff That Wounded Officer

A habitual-offender filing now puts heavier penalties on the table.

Overview

  • Daniel Liam Waldrep, 30, faces four counts of assault with intent to murder among 14 felony charges, plus a misdemeanor count of domestic violence.
  • A judge set bond at $2 million with conditions that include a steel-cuff tether, home confinement, no contact with the victim or witnesses, and no alcohol or drugs if released.
  • Prosecutors filed a habitual-offender notice and said the charges reflect the maximum supported by the evidence to date.
  • Police say the Jan. 23 incident began as a domestic dispute, and Waldrep fired a high-powered rifle from inside his home, injuring a Roseville officer in the head and striking a patrol vehicle.
  • The wounded officer is expected to recover; Waldrep remains hospitalized pending transfer to the Macomb County Jail, with a probable cause conference on Feb. 11 and a preliminary exam on Feb. 18.
