Overview
- Adam Makowka allegedly climbed a fire escape and used a rifle to fatally shoot his ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Jerkera B. Battle, inside her Allentown apartment on July 22.
- He fired additional shots in a bedroom in an apparent attempt to kill Battle’s three-month-old son and another man, though no further injuries occurred.
- Surveillance footage and forensic evidence led authorities to identify Makowka and arrest him at a Delaware County park hours after the killing.
- Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio ruled the death a homicide by gunshot wounds and formally identified the victim on July 23.
- Charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault, Makowka is scheduled for arraignment on July 29.
