The attack also left Wagay's wife and daughter injured; both were rushed to a hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
The terrorists fled the scene after opening fire, prompting a joint search operation by police, CRPF, and Army personnel to locate the assailants.
Wagay was reportedly shot in the abdomen, while his wife and daughter suffered leg injuries during the attack.
This incident follows recent security operations in the region, including the killing of two infiltrating terrorists along the Line of Control in Poonch district.
