Awaiting Supreme Court sentencing on contempt charges, Pannell remains in custody pending the outcome of a multimillion-dollar fraud probe.

Overview

  • On July 23 at Heidelberg Magistrates Court, Troy Pannell pleaded guilty to dealing with property suspected as crime proceeds, failing to stop when directed, and evading police.
  • Magistrate Michael Wighton imposed a six-month good behaviour bond and suspended Pannell’s driver’s licence for six months without recording a conviction.
  • Pannell appeared via video link from Melbourne Remand Centre and will return on January 23, 2026, for charges to be dismissed if he maintains good behaviour.
  • Separately, Pannell is due for sentencing in the Victorian Supreme Court after pleading guilty to contempt charges over missed court appearances.
  • SeaRoad Shipping continues to pursue an $8.7 million false-invoice fraud claim against Pannell, whose assets have been frozen since June 2024.
