Evri Faces Backlog as Depot Overhaul Strands Parcels
The company's shift from central depots to smaller local sites has strained collection routes and forced a temporary recovery operation.
Overview
- Evri confirmed on Monday that collections problems have left parcels stuck in ParcelShops and Post Office branches in some local areas, producing multi-day backlogs reported by retailers and local media.
- The disruption is linked to a planned move away from larger, centralised depots toward smaller local sites, which has reduced van capacity on some collection rounds and complicated routing for branch pickups.
- To clear outstanding parcels the company is rolling out more than 100 extra collection routes, roughly 330 ‘sweeper’ vans, additional drivers and shortened rounds to ease van capacity constraints.
- Evri says the issues are limited to a minority of outlets and points to overall ParcelShop performance above 95% on time across its national out-of-home network as it completes the changeover.
- The problems underline risks for the thousands of independent shops and Post Office branches that host Evri services and follow major recent changes to the business, including its 2024 Apollo takeover and a 2025 merger with DHL eCommerce UK.
