Evening Severe Thunderstorm Warning Targets Parts of Waukesha, Jefferson and Dodge Counties With 60 mph Winds, Quarter-Size Hail

Forecasters expect additional storms to develop later tonight.

Overview

  • The National Weather Service issued a warning until 8:15 p.m. CDT for northwestern Waukesha, northeastern Jefferson and southeastern Dodge counties.
  • At 7:36 p.m. CDT, storms were organized along a line from near Juneau to near Watertown and were moving east at about 35 mph.
  • Radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to 1.00 inch, with expected damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees.
  • Projected arrival times included Watertown, Juneau and Hustisford around 7:40 p.m.; Lac La Belle at 7:45; and Hartford, Okauchee Lake and Oconomowoc near 7:50, with additional nearby communities also in the path.
  • Guidance urged people to move to an interior room on the lowest floor, and the evening alert followed a morning warning in Dodge and Fond du Lac counties that also highlighted damaging winds.
