Overview
- Eve announced on Monday that its eVTOL prototype completed the first transition-phase flight with the rear propeller engaged, flying for 3 minutes and 9 seconds over about 1,550 meters at 27 meters altitude and reaching a top speed of 55 km/h.
- The test took place at Embraer’s Gavião Peixoto facility and confirmed the rear propulsion can provide forward thrust needed to move the aircraft from hover to partial horizontal flight.
- The eVTOL is designed for five occupants and about 100 km range, features that support short urban and regional trips and match the roughly 3,000 orders the company says it has received.
- Eve plans a stepwise expansion of the flight envelope with higher-speed trials up to about 50 knots (92 km/h), radio and data-link validation, and structural load analysis before seeking certification from Brazil’s ANAC.
- If remaining tests and regulatory approval proceed as planned, Eve expects series production at its Taubaté plant and aims to begin deliveries and commercial operations in 2027, but those targets depend on successful certification and further flight validation.
