Overview

  • Cal Fire reported the blaze near Los Coches Road around 3 p.m., estimating about 10 acres burned with a moderate rate of spread.
  • Multiple structures were engulfed and a mobile home park was threatened, according to Cal Fire officials.
  • An evacuation order covered areas north of Los Coches Road, south of Interstate 8, east of Los Coches Road, and west of Lake Jennings Park Road and Kumeyaay Highway.
  • Evacuation warnings were issued for additional nearby zones, including SDC-1680, SDC-1681, SDC-1682, SDC-1685, SDC-1686, SDC-1770, and SDC-1774.
  • An evacuation center opened at Viejas Casino in Alpine, and traffic was closed at Los Coches Road and I-8 as firefighting crews operated on the ground and from the air.
