Eutelsat OneWeb Receives Approval to Launch Satellite Broadband Services in India

OneWeb, backed by Bharti Enterprises, is the first to secure such authorization, ahead of SpaceX’s Starlink and Reliance’s JioSpaceFiber.

Eutelsat OneWeb, a subsidiary of Eutelsat, has received approval from India's space regulator to launch commercial satellite broadband services in India.
OneWeb India is the first organization to receive such authorization, ahead of SpaceX’s Starlink and Reliance’s JioSpaceFiber.
The approval is valid for five years and the launch is subject to spectrum allocation by the Indian government.
OneWeb is backed by Indian billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal's Bharti Enterprises, which also runs Airtel, India's second largest telecom carrier by users.
The Indian government is pushing for the development of its space industry, aiming to have a $40 billion slice of the global commercial space market by 2040.
