Overview
- Network Rail will run a two-week pilot from Monday using only the outer panels of the large concourse screen for adverts, with the central section reserved for live train and customer information.
- The company says screen brightness will be kept comfortable and content will follow guidance on neurodiversity to avoid distraction.
- Any advertising income will be reinvested, with spring works to upgrade the assisted travel lounge, add seating and create a new customer service hub.
- Passenger watchdog London TravelWatch will be consulted during the trial and says outer-edge ads could be acceptable if information remains clear.
- The trial follows the 2024 switch-off ordered by then transport secretary Louise Haigh over overcrowding concerns, after an ORR improvement notice in 2023.
