European Space Agency Makes History with First Livestream from Mars

The European Space Agency streamed the first ever live images from Mars to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Mars Express orbiter launching.
Images from Mars Express' Visual Monitoring Camera were shown roughly every 50 seconds for a hourlong event.
The livestream overcame an 18-minute delay for signals to travel between Mars and Earth.
Occasional disruptions occurred when rain interfered with transmissions from the deep space antenna receiving data from Mars.
The images revealed incredible views of the Martian surface as the orbiter circled the planet.
