European Influencers' Photos Used in Fake Pro-Trump Campaign on X

A coordinated disinformation effort has hijacked images of real women to create fake accounts promoting Trump and spreading conspiracy theories.

At least 17 European women had their photos stolen and manipulated for pro-Trump propaganda on X.
The fake accounts, identified by CNN and CIR, used photos of young women, sometimes AI-altered, to appear authentic.
These accounts posted similar messages with hashtags like #MAGAPatriots and showed signs of foreign interference.
Despite platform rules, X was slow to react, only removing most accounts after CNN's investigation.
The European Commission is investigating X for non-compliance with the Digital Services Act.
