Overview

• The shortlist features 44 fiction, 15 documentary and eight animated features, with 27 titles directed or co-directed by women and representation from 34 countries.
• Fiction and documentary selections were made by the European Film Academy board with invited experts, with animation chosen in cooperation with CARTOON.
• The Academy’s 5,400 members will vote on European Film, Director, Discovery—Prix Fipresci, Documentary, Animated Feature, Actress, Actor and Screenwriter.
• Key dates include 31 October for the European Short Film – Prix Vimeo at Seminci, 18 November for the main nominations in Seville and 26 November for craft categories.
• The lineup includes festival standouts such as Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia, Mascha Schilinski’s Sound of Falling and Laura Carreira’s On Falling, alongside new work from Jafar Panahi and Kaouther Ben Hania.
