Europe Sets October LNG Import Record as Turkish Stream Flows Also Climb to Peak

A top U.S. official says Europe lacks the infrastructure to fully replace Russian pipeline gas with record LNG shipments.

Overview

  • Gas Infrastructure Europe reports about 12.6 bcm of LNG entered EU grids in October, marking a record for the month and lifting the 10‑month total above 116.5 bcm.
  • From April through October, LNG deliveries to Europe reached a seasonal record of roughly 82.5 bcm, reinforcing LNG’s expanded role in the supply mix.
  • LNG accounted for 44.7% of Europe’s 2025 gas supplies as of October 30, according to ENTSOG, ahead of North Sea and North African sources.
  • Russian pipeline exports via Turkish Stream hit a monthly record of 1.68 bcm in October with average loading near 96%, taking 10‑month flows to around 14.7 bcm.
  • European storage saw the highest October withdrawals in five years, ending the month 82.84% full, below the EU’s 90% target window, as the U.S. EIA logged record U.S. LNG exports including 266.7 bcf to the EU in August.
