Overview
- Luke Donald named Alex Noren as his fifth and final vice-captain, adding the 2018 Ryder Cup winner to a leadership group with Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, Thomas Bjørn and José María Olazábal for Sept. 26–28 at Bethpage Black.
- Donald kept continuity by bringing back 11 of the 12 players from Europe’s 2023 victory, with Rasmus Højgaard replacing his twin, Nicolai, and he said similar personnel will not dictate the same pairings or lineups.
- U.S. captain Keegan Bradley confirmed last week he would not select himself as a playing captain and completed Team USA with six picks—JJ Spaun, Ben Griffin, Harris English, Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Young.
- Justin Thomas said Bradley leading the team to victory would be “cooler” than playing, and Annika Sörenstam called his decision not to pick himself “the right thing” and praised his focus on captaincy.
- With both rosters and backroom teams set, attention turns to pairings and the expected intensity of New York fans; DeChambeau warned Europeans to “double” their expectations, and Donald said his squad has been preparing for the environment.
