Euren Balbuena Sentenced to 33 Years for Murder; Victim's Stepfather Attacks Him in Court

Euren Balbuena, 33, was sentenced to 33 years to life in prison for the 2020 murder of his girlfriend, 31-year-old Zaira Patino-Trejo.
During the sentencing, Patino-Trejo's stepfather lunged at Balbuena and managed to land at least one punch before being separated by bailiffs.
Balbuena was convicted of first-degree murder, battery causing great bodily injury, and assault with a deadly weapon against Patino-Trejo's mother.
The attack occurred during an argument in their Simi Valley apartment, where Balbuena stabbed Patino-Trejo more than 30 times with several kitchen knives.
Patino-Trejo's mother, who was also stabbed twice during the attack, was reading her impact statement when her husband lunged at Balbuena.
