Overview

  • On July 16, 2025 the EU General Court dismissed Marine, Yann and Marie-Caroline Le Pen’s challenge to the repayment order issued in July 2024.
  • An OLAF report concluded that between 2009 and 2018 Jean-Marie Le Pen charged personal purchases—ties, umbrellas, virtual reality glasses and 129 bottles of wine—under budget line 400.
  • The tribunal ruled that the European Parliament’s recovery procedure did not violate principles of legal certainty or legitimate expectations.
  • The Le Pen heirs have two months and ten days from notification to lodge a limited appeal on points of law with the Court of Justice of the EU.
  • This reimbursement case is separate from the Rassemblement National parliamentary-assistants embezzlement trial that led to early 2025 convictions for party figures, including Marine Le Pen.
