EU Sends 447 Generators as G7+ Pledges Over 6,000 Energy Units for Ukraine

The new commitments aim to stabilize essential services during a harsh winter power shortfall.

Overview

  • The European Commission confirmed delivery of 447 backup generators worth €3.7 million from rescEU reserves in Poland for hospitals, shelters and critical services.
  • Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said partners pledged more than 6,000 large pieces of energy equipment following a G7+ coordination meeting, alongside fresh contributions to the Energy Support Fund.
  • Germany committed €60 million plus equipment including 33 cogeneration units, 15 mobile hybrid generators, 300 photovoltaic systems, 375 battery units, 31 boiler units, construction machinery and 10 water heaters.
  • The United States pledged over $400 million for winter humanitarian support, while Italy committed €10 million to the fund with €50 million budgeted and the United Kingdom pledged nearly €23 million.
  • France will provide over 100 generators totaling 13 MW, Japan will send generators, transformers and repair gear, Poland will dispatch 379 generators and 18 heaters, Lithuania will urgently transfer 90 generators, and the EU notes nearly 10,000 generators have already been supplied via the UCPM.
