EU Parliament Investigates Latvian Lawmaker Over Alleged Russian Espionage

Tatjana Ždanoka Accused of Spreading Pro-Kremlin Propaganda, Latvia's Security Service to Probe Allegations

Latvian lawmaker Tatjana Ždanoka is under investigation by the European Parliament following allegations that she has been acting as a Russian agent since 2004.
The allegations were brought to light by a joint investigation conducted by Russian investigative journalism site The Insider, Latvian equivalent Re:Baltica, news portal Delfi Estonia, and Swedish newspaper Expressen.
Ždanoka is accused of spreading propaganda about alleged violations of the rights of Russians in the Baltics and advocating for a pro-Kremlin policy.
Latvia's security service, the VDD, plans to probe Ždanoka's alleged cooperation with Russian intelligence and security services.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denounced the accusations against Ždanoka as a 'witch hunt.'
