- The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the invitation for European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
- Both leaders will undertake a state visit to India from January 25 to 27 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Costa and von der Leyen will co-chair the 16th India–EU Summit in New Delhi on January 27.
- The programme includes a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu and both restricted and delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Modi.
- An India–EU Business Forum is expected on the summit sidelines as part of efforts to deepen a strategic partnership dating to 2004, which has gained momentum since the EU College of Commissioners’ 2025 visit.
