Overview
- All SEPA institutions have been required to receive instant transfers since January 9, and from early October 2025 they must also offer sending, which now covers Croatia.
- Cross-border euro payments to and from Croatia are intended to clear in roughly 10 seconds, available 24/7/365.
- Banks may not charge more for instant transfers than for conventional SEPA transactions, ending many prior surcharges.
- Because Croatia uses the euro, German customers avoid currency conversion when sending money for travel or business needs.
- Availability remains uneven as some cooperative and smaller German banks complete technical rollouts, while direct banks and savings banks report broad support.
