EU Fines Gucci, Chloé and Loewe €157 Million for Resale Price Fixing

Regulators concluded the houses constrained retailers’ pricing across the EEA by imposing discount caps plus fixed sale windows after 2023 inspections.

Overview

  • Gucci was fined about €119.7 million, Chloé about €19.7 million and Loewe €18 million, reflecting the seriousness, duration and reach of the infringements.
  • The Commission found the brands enforced recommended prices, capped discounts and limited sales periods across apparel, leather goods, footwear and accessories throughout the EEA.
  • All three cooperated, with reductions granted of 50% for Gucci and Loewe and 15% for Chloé, after evidence was provided and facts were acknowledged.
  • The infringements occurred between 2015 and April 2023 (later for Chloé), ceased after unannounced inspections in April 2023 and led to formal proceedings in July 2024.
  • Kering said Gucci’s penalty was provisioned in first-half 2025 results, while Loewe and Chloé affirmed compliance commitments as the Commission cited harm to competition and consumer choice.
