Overview
- Visa-exempt nationals must register with ETIAS before entering 30 European countries, with travellers under 18 and over 70 exempt from the €20 fee.
- ETIAS rollout is scheduled for late 2026, with mandatory authorisation enforced from April 2027 after the Entry/Exit System’s biometric checks begin in October 2025.
- A valid ETIAS permits multiple short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period and remains valid for three years or until the linked passport expires.
- Applicants must submit details via the official ETIAS website or mobile app and use the same travel document at borders.
- Applications can be refused for inaccurate information, invalid passports, Schengen Information System alerts or missed interviews, and refusals are subject to appeal.
