EU Court Upholds Sanctions Against Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has lost his legal challenge against the European Union sanctions imposed on him following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The EU court upheld the sanctions, which include freezing Abramovich's assets and banning him from traveling within or through the bloc.
The court noted Abramovich's role in the Russian steel company Evraz, which provides a major source of revenue to the Russian government, as a justification for the sanctions.
Abramovich, who also holds Israeli citizenship and is a former owner of Premier League football club Chelsea, can appeal the ruling.
The EU has imposed 12 rounds of sanctions on Russia since President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops into Ukraine almost two years ago.
