Ethiopians Sweep Elite Titles at Mexico City Marathon

Tadu Abate Deme won the men’s race in 2:11:17.640 as Kenyans Benard Kipkorir (2:11:28.863) and Edwin Kiprop Kiptoo (2:13:07.998) completed the podium. Bekelech Gudeta Borecha took the women’s title in 2:28:36.906 with Peru’s Lizaida Thalia Valdivia second and Bahrain’s Ruth Danies Albert Jebet third. Mexico swept the wheelchair podium with José Alan Frías taking first, followed by Marco Antonio Caballero and Gonzalo Valdovinos. The 42nd edition followed the certified route from Estadio Olímpico Universitario to the Zócalo and carried international gold-category status. Organizers reported a smooth, incident-free event with participation exceeding 30,000 runners.
