Ethereum to Retire Holesky After Fusaka as Hoodi Becomes Main Validator Testnet

The shift follows Pectra-era inactivity leaks that slowed validator lifecycle testing on Holesky.

Overview

  • Support for Holesky ends two weeks after the Fusaka upgrade finalizes, with the cutoff expected in November 2025.
  • Client, testing and infrastructure teams will cease maintenance at that point, leaving the network unsupported.
  • Validators and infrastructure providers are directed to Hoodi, while dApp and tooling work should move to Sepolia and short-cycle validator tests to Ephemery.
  • Hoodi launched in March 2025 with a refreshed validator set, full Pectra compatibility and readiness for upcoming upgrades including Fusaka.
  • Holesky, introduced in 2023 and used for Dencun and Pectra trials, is being retired after extended inactivity leaks and exit queues exposed scaling limits, while Fusaka is described as improving rollup efficiency by spreading data storage across validators.
