Esther González joins NJ/NY Gotham FC on multi-year deal

González signed with NJ/NY Gotham FC through 2025 with a club option for 2026.
She comes to the NWSL after winning the Women's World Cup with Spain and scoring against Costa Rica.
González previously held the scoring record at Real Madrid with 39 goals in two seasons.
The signing is seen as a move to attract and retain international talent in the NWSL.
Gotham FC hopes González will strengthen their roster and boost playoff chances.
