Essex Man Charged with Assisting Russian Intelligence

Howard Michael Phillips, 64, faces charges under the National Security Act after being detained by UK counter-terror police.

Phillips was arrested on May 16 in central London and appeared in court on May 23.
He is accused of materially assisting a foreign intelligence service in UK-related activities.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed there is no wider threat to the public.
Addresses in Hertfordshire and Essex were searched as part of the investigation.
Phillips is set to appear at the Old Bailey on June 14.
