Essen Police Assist in Roadside Birth of Baby Sara

The father’s thank-you call confirmed that mother and daughter were healthy at home following the officers’ roadside assistance.

  • Two officers on patrol noticed a car parked in a second row on Alfredstraße and found a woman in active labor.
  • They carried the expectant mother into a nearby doorway, called for medical support and helped deliver the baby before an ambulance arrived.
  • The newborn, named Sara, arrived safely around 2 p.m. on June 9 thanks to the officers’ swift response.
  • As a gesture of kindness, the police later brought the family a small uniformed teddy bear for the newborn.
  • On June 12 the baby’s father phoned to express gratitude and reported that both mother and daughter were doing well at home.
