ESPN Extends Dick Vitale Through 2027–28 Season, Debuts Dick Vitale Invitational

Overview

  • Vitale signed a new multi-year contract with ESPN through the 2027–28 season, extending his tenure at the network to nearly 50 years.
  • ESPN Events and the Charlotte Sports Foundation are launching the Dick Vitale Invitational as an annual men’s college basketball showcase.
  • The inaugural matchup will feature Duke vs. Texas on Nov. 4, 2025 at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center.
  • Vitale was declared cancer-free in December and resumed calling games in February after his fourth cancer battle.
