Escaped California Inmate Recaptured in NYC After 13 Years

Eduardo Hernandez, who fled a minimum-security prison camp in 2011, was apprehended without incident in May and faces possible escape charges.

Hernandez escaped from Delta Conservation Camp in Suisun City, California, in November 2011.
He was serving a 13-year sentence for carjacking with a firearm enhancement.
Another inmate, Jose Padilla, escaped with Hernandez and remains at large.
The California Department of Corrections reports that 99% of escapees since 1977 have been recaptured.
Hernandez will be extradited back to California for potential additional charges.
