Erriyon Knighton Cleared to Compete in US Olympic Trials After Drug Test Controversy

An independent arbitrator ruled that the positive test was likely due to contaminated meat, allowing the sprinter to vie for a spot in the Paris Olympics.

  • Knighton tested positive for trenbolone, a banned substance, during an out-of-competition test in March.
  • The US Anti-Doping Agency provisionally suspended Knighton in April following the test results.
  • An investigation concluded that the positive test was probably caused by contaminated meat from a Florida bakery.
  • Knighton, known for his record-breaking 200m times, is now eligible to compete in the trials starting June 21 in Oregon.
  • The World Anti-Doping Agency may still appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
