Eritrea Withdraws from 2026 World Cup Qualifying

All Eritrean matches canceled, Group E schedule remains unchanged

Eritrea has withdrawn from the African qualifying for the 2026 World Cup just days before its opening game against Morocco.
Eritrea's last international game was almost four years ago, and they were scheduled to open their qualifying program against Morocco next week.
All of Eritrea's matches have been canceled, but the rest of the match schedule for Group E, which includes Morocco, Niger, Republic of Congo, Tanzania, and Zambia, remains unchanged.
Morocco, the 2022 World Cup semifinalist, is favored to advance from Group E.
The 2026 World Cup will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and only teams that finish top in the nine African groups will advance directly to the tournament.
