• USA Basketball’s board confirmed the appointment Tuesday after managing director Grant Hill selected and publicly endorsed Spoelstra.
• Spoelstra succeeds Steve Kerr, whose tenure concluded with the United States winning a fifth straight Olympic gold at Paris 2024.
• The 54-year-old will continue coaching the Miami Heat while leading Team USA through training camps, the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar, and the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
