Overview

  • Erik Menendez underwent two surgeries for large kidney stones and remains in fair condition at an outside medical facility.
  • Attorney Mark Geragos has formally requested a medical furlough so Erik can work with his parole team ahead of the August 21–22 hearing.
  • The brothers were resentenced in May to 50 years to life under California’s youthful offender law, rendering them immediately eligible for parole.
  • Last week a Los Angeles judge directed prosecutors to justify why newly surfaced abuse evidence should not trigger a review of their 1996 convictions.
  • Any parole recommendation by the state board must receive final approval from Governor Gavin Newsom.
