• Martina Sailer said in a Facebook post that her father, Tyrolean-born coach Erich Sailer, died at age 99.
• Lindsey Vonn paid tribute on Instagram, calling Sailer more than a coach and crediting him with shaping her as a person and skier.
• Sailer emigrated to the United States and, with Pepi Gramshammer and Anderl Molterer, built influential junior race camps, notably at Buck Hill in Minnesota.
• His programs developed American talents including Kristina Koznick, Sarah Schleper and Resi Stiegler, and he is a member of the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame.
• Vonn said she saw Sailer this summer and plans to dedicate her remaining competitions, including her bid for the 2026 Milan–Cortina Olympics, to his memory.
