The actor is pressing lawmakers, supporting a $1 billion Push for Progress effort for research and patient support.

Overview

  • Speaking to the Washington Post, Dane said he lost his balance in his kitchen shortly before the Sept. 14 broadcast, was hospitalized, and needed stitches to his head.
  • He had been slated to appear with former Grey's Anatomy co-star Jesse Williams for a 20th-anniversary moment, which Williams delivered solo.
  • Dane disclosed his ALS diagnosis in April and said in June that his right side had stopped working and that he expected further loss of function in his left hand.
  • He has reiterated that he plans to keep acting, saying the work keeps his mind engaged and helps him move forward.
  • This week he met in Washington, D.C., with Rep. Eric Swalwell alongside I AM ALS advocates and physicians, voiced a pledge to fight the disease, and promoted the three-year $1 billion Push for Progress campaign.
