Equinor and Aker BP Announce Two Gas-Condensate Discoveries in Sleipner Area

The partners aim for quick tie-backs to Sleipner infrastructure to deliver low-emission gas to Europe.

Overview

  • Preliminary recoverable resources are estimated at 30 to 110 million barrels of oil equivalent across the Lofn and Langemann finds in PL1140.
  • The 15/5-8 S (Lofn) and 15/5-8 A (Langemann) wells were drilled by Odfjell Drilling’s Deepsea Atlantic rig and then plugged after extensive data collection.
  • Both high-pressure, high-temperature wells encountered gas and condensate in high-quality Hugin formation sandstones.
  • Equinor identified the targets using ocean bottom node seismic and says five additional exploration wells are planned in the area.
  • Aker BP frames the discovery as capping its strongest exploration year since 2010, adding to Omega Alfa and Kjøttkake, with the latter targeting first oil in 2028.
