Overview

  • Equinix formalized on August 14 power purchase agreements and preorders totaling more than 1 GW of advanced nuclear and fuel cell capacity for its global data centers.
  • The company will procure 500 MW from Oklo’s next-generation fission reactors and preorder 20 transportable microreactors from Radiant Nuclear.
  • European agreements with ULC-Energy and Stellaria commit Equinix to purchase future output from small modular reactor projects in the Netherlands and France.
  • Equinix also signed advanced fuel cell contracts with Bloom Energy to diversify its low-carbon power mix for onsite backup and supplemental generation.
  • All commitments hinge on regulatory approvals and deployment timelines as small modular reactors and microreactors remain in pilot stages and not yet commercially operational.
