Shoppers will find only select Carrefour Express and some Dia outlets operating on special hours.

Overview

  • January 6 is a national holiday, and most supermarkets and major retailers will not open.
  • In Murcia, Dos Mares plans a full opening, Nueva Condomina opens only leisure, dining, cinema and gym, Parque Almenara keeps only leisure and restaurants, and Thader, La Noria, Atalayas and Espacio Mediterráneo remain closed.
  • Murcia locations for El Corte Inglés, Ikea and MediaMarkt will close, Mercadona will not open, Alcampo will be shut, and standard Carrefour supermarkets will close aside from potential Express-format exceptions.
  • Catalunya does not authorize January 6 as a commercial opening day, but Barcelona permits openings only in its tourist zone from 12:00 to 20:00, with Maremàgnum open 10:00 to 22:00 as other city and provincial malls close except for leisure areas at Mataró Parc and Sant Cugat.
  • Exceptions are limited to some Carrefour Express and certain Dia stores with holiday schedules, while Lidl, Aldi, Alcampo, El Corte Inglés and Bon Preu/Esclat close their supermarkets and Esclat Oil petrol-station shops remain open, so customers should check each store’s website.
