Epic Lets Fortnite Creators Sell In-Game Items in December With 100% V-Bucks Credit Through 2026

Epic is using a temporary 100 percent V-Bucks credit to jump-start creator monetization.

Overview

  • Creators will be able to sell durable and consumable items directly from their islands starting December 2025 using new Verse APIs and UEFN tools, with the ordinary 50 percent V-Bucks value share temporarily increased to 100 percent through December 2026.
  • Epic detailed its V-Bucks valuation method, saying average platform fees are 26 percent, so a 50 percent V-Bucks value equates to about 37 percent of retail spending and 100 percent equates to about 74 percent.
  • Engagement payouts change on November 1, 2025, granting creators 75 percent of contributions from new or lapsed players they bring for the first six months and counting only players with purchase histories while shifting retention to be island-specific.
  • A Sponsored Row debuts in Discover on November 24, 2025, with creators bidding for placement and sponsorship revenue flowing to the engagement pool at 100 percent until the end of 2026 before settling at 50 percent long term.
  • Epic says funds it retains cover servers, safety, moderation and R&D after recent operating losses, and it reports 11.2 billion hours across 260,000 creator islands with $722 million paid to creators as community reaction highlights both enthusiasm and concerns about content quality.
