Epic Games Store Reinstates Blockchain Games

Policy change allows Adults Only-rated games due to blockchain or NFT technology, marking a significant shift in the gaming industry.

Epic Games Store has updated its rules to allow blockchain games, which are typically rated Adults Only by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), to be sold on its platform.
The change came after NFT card game Gods Unchained and play-to-earn multiplayer football game Strike Manager 3 were removed from the Epic Games Store due to their Adults Only rating, but have now been returned to the store.
Blockchain games must still comply with Epic Games Store’s own technology Guidelines and can’t include things such as 'pornography, gambling, and hateful content.'
This policy change is a significant shift in the gaming industry’s approach to blockchain technology, as major gaming platforms like Xbox and PlayStation generally do not distribute AO-rated games.
Immutable, the publisher of Gods Unchained, welcomed the policy change, stating that it shows recognition of the experience of web3 gaming and brings it one step closer to adoption.
