EPFO Warns Members Against Unauthorised Agents as It Rolls Out New Digital Reforms

Members can now access EPFO services instantly on UMANG using Aadhaar or Face Authentication Technology after the organisation simplified its online processes.

Overview

  • EPFO advised members to avoid unauthorised agents and cybercafé operators for tasks that can be done free of charge on its portal and UMANG app.
  • EPFO simplified member profile correction with Aadhaar authentication, enabled UAN de-linking online and introduced Face Authentication Technology for instant UAN activation on UMANG.
  • The auto-claim settlement limit for advances under illness, housing, marriage and education was raised to ₹1 lakh, resulting in 2.34 crore claims being processed automatically in FY 2024-25.
  • Employer approval requirements for most transfer claims and bank account seeding were removed, and the need to upload a cheque leaf or attested bank passbook was eliminated in April 2025.
  • In FY 2024-25, EPFO registered 16.01 lakh grievances on EPFiGMS and 1.74 lakh on CPGRAMS, resolving 98 percent of cases within stipulated timelines.
