Epec Carries Out Scheduled Power Cuts in Córdoba to Modernize Grid

Officials say transformer upgrades supported by detailed line work will bolster grid resilience to ease summer peak loads.

Overview

  • On Aug. 8, Epec cut power in Villa María and Villa Nueva from 7:00 to 7:10 for aerial network maintenance and shut off Saldán from 8:30 to 11:00 to install new equipment.
  • On Aug. 9, outages hit Marcos Juárez from 7:00 to 8:00 to energize a new transformer, Córdoba city from 8:00 to 11:30 for medium-voltage line trimming and underground network repairs, and Río Cuarto from 8:00 to 12:00 for aerial grid maintenance.
  • The measures form part of a province-wide push to reinforce aging distribution assets and guard against unplanned blackouts amid heightened summer demand and lessons learned from last April’s Iberian outage.
  • Work encompasses vegetation management, transformer station energization and both aerial and subterranean line maintenance with street-level schedules published for each affected area.
  • Epec urges residents and businesses to disconnect electronics, plan alternative lighting solutions and maintain water reserves during the planned interruptions.
