EPCOT Tests Split Pre-Show at Cosmic Rewind to Separate Lightning Lane and Standby

The temporary setup aims to reduce crowding in the two pre-show rooms without signaling a permanent policy change.

Overview

  • Cast Members placed stanchions in the first two pre-show rooms, directing Lightning Lane guests to the right side and standby guests to the left.
  • During some test runs, Lightning Lane guests were allowed to enter the second pre-show first and exit first, though other observers reported little to no boarding advantage.
  • The configuration was seen on September 27–29 and appeared intermittent, with the test removed at times when crowds increased.
  • Disney has not issued a statement on duration or future adoption, and the effort is described as a trial to improve flow and reduce the rush to one side of the rooms.
  • A middle set of pre-show exit doors was marked out of service during observations, which may reflect unrelated maintenance.
