EPCOT Opening Delayed to 10:00 AM on Three Days During January Marathon Weekend

Disney moved morning hours to accommodate runDisney operations and added a new Thursday delay that could slow resort roads and transit.

Overview

  • Disney’s published park hours show EPCOT will open at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 7, Saturday, January 9, and Sunday, January 10, 2027 with Early Theme Park Entry at 9:30 AM and a 9:00 PM closing.
  • The late openings coincide with Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which runs January 6–10 and includes a 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon with the half marathon marking its 30th anniversary.
  • The addition of Thursday, January 7 is a new change for 2027 compared with the 2025 and 2026 schedules and Disney has not provided a public explanation for that extra delayed morning.
  • Based on prior race timing, most half marathon runners should finish before a 10:00 AM opening while full marathon finishers can remain in EPCOT into midday, which can create heavy foot traffic near the finish area at opening.
  • Guests should expect road closures and slower buses or rideshares on race mornings, check official park hours in the Disney Parks app before travel, allow extra transit time, and consider starting at another park or using Park Hopper options.
