EOW Kashmir Files Chargesheet in Fake Agriculture Appointment Case as Job-Scam Prosecutions Advance
The latest filing marks a push to move multiple recruitment-fraud investigations from inquiry to courtroom scrutiny.
Overview
- The Economic Offences Wing submitted a chargesheet in FIR 43/2021 before the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Chadoora, naming Showkat Ahmad Hajam and Irshad Ahmad Ahanger over forged Agriculture Department appointment orders.
- Investigators said the forged documents listed supposed orderly appointments and induced a woman to attempt joining duty, with offences invoked under Sections 420/511, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B IPC.
- A day earlier, EOW filed a chargesheet in FIR 13/2023 against Ghulam Nabi Hudda for allegedly posing as a senior official and taking lakhs of rupees in nine instalments on the promise of government jobs, invoking Section 420 IPC before the CJM Budgam.
- On December 30, a chargesheet in FIR 04/2022 was placed before the Sub-Judge Sumbal against TDPI director Ranjeet Prasad, alleging about 1,300 Kashmir trainees paid Rs 2,400 each after salary promises of Rs 5,000–12,000 per month.
- EOW reported prima facie findings backed by oral and documentary evidence in all three matters, with the TDPI case filed in absentia under Section 512 CrPC as the accused could not be traced and court proceedings now set to determine next steps.
